Signs of Progress
As described in Lessons from Exemplary Board Leadership: Building a Board from Scratch, it can take years to shift from one kind of board model or structure to another.
Signs that you're making progress will include:
- Board members are feeding names into the nominating/board development committee on an ongoing basis.
- Some of the gaps in the board profile are being filled.
- You have identified a member who is a catalyst for new kinds of board members to join.
- New board members are enjoying board service and feel that their skills are being used productively.
- You have more candidates for the board than you can comfortably accept at one time.
